WHNS Fox Carolina reported on the Greenwood Genetic Center receiving $2 million for Alzheimer's Disease research. This funding is provided in the South Carolina's FY 2023-2024 state budget.
In conducting this research, the Greenwood Genetic Center will utilize MitoSense's Mitochondria Organelle Transplantation (MOT™) technology. Evidence suggests that damaged mitochondria likely play a significant role in the development of Alzheimer's Disease. The MOT™ technology introduces healthy mitochondria to patients with the intent of reducing inflammation due to cellular stress.
